Mike Emanuel
Mike has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry including a long career at Johnson & Johnson where he was Vice President of Global Clinical Operations for Europe, Middle East and Africa, leading a team of over 400 clinical research professionals operating in 27 countries.

He played a major role in creating the mission and organisational and operational design for the globalisation of the company's clinical operations and, in addition, headed the group's Core Operating Team, focusing on operational strategy and implementation across the regions worldwide.  During this period he served as a Board Member of Janssen-Cilag International, holding legal responsibility for sponsor obligations following the implementation of the European Clinical Trials Directive.

He was an Associate Director of the National Institute for Health Research Clinical Research Network (NIHR CRN), responsible for the development of relationships with the pharmaceutical industry.

He is the Founder and Managing Director of SintoPharm, Pharmaceutical Consultancy. Other responsibilities include memberships of a UK-based Research Ethics Committee and the Ethics Panel of The European Patients' Academy on Therapeutic Innovation.

He is also active as a researcher in the History of Medicine and Health with a Research Associate post at Oxford Brookes University. Current interests in these areas include the history of the development of medicines (especially regulation and safety) and public health movements (Open Air). Past historical research has included significant work on the growth of allergic diseases.
